The Poetical Works of . .
Hartford: Printed for Samuel G. Goodrich, 1820 - 2 vols, 8vo, original tan paper spines (rebacked with brown cloth) and blue-gray paper boards, later printed labels, untrimmed . Engraved frontis portrait, title pages and four plates. ? The collected poetry of one of the original Hartford Wits and a satirist of the American Revolution, whose "M'Fingal" was "a cherished possession of the American people in an era when good native poets weren't plentiful" (DAB). Though Trumbull's poetic production dropped off after the Revolution when he turned to law and politics, this collected edition in the later years of his life is testament to his popularity as a poet. Edges worn; some foxing; very good copy. BAL 20547; American Imprints 3493 [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
