R M S Queen Mary: a noble tribute to the imagination of man [with four menus from1936, and A Book of Comparisons]
Cunard White Star 1936 - This is a large-format souvenir brochure produced presumably for passengers for the maiden voyage in 1936 - it refers to Edward VIII as being king. There are two articles, entitled The Queen Mary, and A City goes to Sea, and innumerable illustrations of the ship and the many artworks which adorned it, eg some Art Deco reliefs and a painting by Edward Wadsworth - some printed, some tipped-in. A little worn on the outside, and a slightly grubby endpaper, but otherwise in very good condition. Included with this are four menu-cards, dated 5th to 8th June 1936: this, to the best of our knowledge, was the maiden east-bound voyage. Also a 20-page booklet called The Queen Mary: a Book of Comparisons, also produced by the Cunard White Star Line and resembling an early Puffin Picture Book. More photos available on request.
