With engraved portrait of Woytt, engraved half-title, engraved plate of a man writing, 3 engraved section titles, 50 engraved plates of text based on the letters of the alphabet, 100 engraved plates of plants, and 100 engraved allegorical scenes. Contemporary half pigskin. First and only edition of this religious florilegium. "The work is a devotional tract in three parts. It is included here for the highly ornate plates of plants in the second part, 'Das hertze zu entdecken'. In this section, the German name of the plant is etched above its picture. This is followed by a line referring to a property of the plant or making a play on the name of the plant which sets the tone of the devotional or inspirational verses that follow" (Johnston 355). The author was a German clergyman, and his engraved portrait is by Gottfried Pfauz. Johnston, 'The Cleveland Herbal' no. 355.
