This plate shows different pear varieties: Robine, Eyer Peer (Poire d'Oeuf), Kalmer-Peer, Rouselet, Orange musque, Diamand Peer, Bergamot Suisse Longe, Franse Canneel Fondante, Hoe langer hoe liever Tijsjes-Peer, Calbas musque. Contemporary (old) hand colored copperplate engraving on a verge type hand laid paper. Description: This scarse print / plate originates from a 1758 edition of 'Pomologia' by Johann Hermann Knoop. This is a well-known Dutch work (first edition) on fruit and domestic horticulture. The fruit is named in the image.Artists and Engravers: Artist: Johann Hermann Knoop (c.1700-1769). Engraved by Jacob Folkema (1692-1767), a Dutch engraver. Condition: Very good. General age related toning. Some occasional light staining as visible on scans. Storage location: A139-27 The overall size is ca. 9.4 x 13.2 inch. The image size is ca. 8.3 x 11 inch. The overall size is ca. 24 x 33.5 cm. The image size is ca. 21 x 28 cm.
