- Map : 'La Suisse'. (Map of Switzerland.) Nice cartouche with the coats of arms of the Cantons and scale. Original copperplate engraving on a verge type hand laid paper. Description: This attractive original old antique map / print / plate originates from; 'Introduction a L'Histoire des principaux Royaumes et Etats, tels qu'ils sont aujourd'hui dans l'Europe' by Samule Pufendorf, published by Pieter van der Aa in Leiden, The Netherlands.Artists and Engravers: Pieter van der Aa was born 1659 in Leyden, Holland. He started his own book publishing business when he was twenty-three. Within fifty years in his business, he published a huge amount of highly decorative maps and atlases. His "Nouvel Atlas" was reissued by Covens & Mortier. He died 1733 in Leyden. Condition: Excellent. General age related toning and occasional light staining from handling as visible on image. Lower right margin short as issued has been remargined with strip of identical paper. Storage location: A195-22 The overall size is ca. 12.4 x 9.4 inch. The image size is ca. 11.6 x 8.7 inch. The overall size is ca. 31.5 x 24 cm. The image size is ca. 29.5 x 22 cm.
