Orange County, California. Board of Supervisors. No date. Ca. 1920. Folded two-color map, designed for mailing, 3 1/2 x 6 inches, unfolding to 17 x 21 inches. Text on address panel of folded map states: "Board of Supervisors' map of the county, showing particularly the paved highways of Orange County, California." Text on unfolded map states "[Copyright] 1916 by Geo. H. Davis for County Surveyor." The County Surveyor is given as J. L. McBride. Portion of address panel on folded map depicts the state of California with Orange County located in the extreme south on the Pacific Ocean. Numerous photographic views of Orange County are pictured on verso of the unfolded map. Panel showing revenue relating to agriculture and oil production demonstrates increases between 1916 and 1920, while text boasts of the current 250 miles of paved roads. Major urban areas shown on the map include Santa Ana, Anaheim, and Fullerton. A most interesting ephemeral booster item intended to project prosperity and the progressive thinking of county officials. Uncommon, with only three WorldCat listings. Very small breaks at several folds; overall, excellent clean condition, having never been mailed.
