Still a lovely set.. 3/4 brown leather; marbled boards, page ends, and end papers. 4 raised bands with gilt Greek key decoration114 steel engravings. Vol. I: iv, [2] pp. followed by 58 bw engravings and corresponding annotation pages (116 pp.); Vol. II: 56 bw engravings and corresponding annotation pages (112 pp.). A heavy set at 7 pounds and may require extra postage. A beautiful two-volume set in 3/4 chocolate leather with marbled boards and endpapers. Contains 114 steel engravings of works in the New National Gallery in London, with a description of each work on the page facing the engraving. A very attractive set with very little or no foxing to the engravings. No publication date, circa 1858 (title page absent/unpublished). Works by the great painters, including Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, Poussin, Caracci, Reynolds, Gainsborough, and many more. Includes thorough annotations.
