The Unpublished Papers of the Order of Indian Wars, Vol. 1-8, Each Vol. Signed and Limited
New Brunswick, New Jersey;(1977-1978): Privately Printed By John M. Carroll. Limited Edition. Octavo. Limited to only 100 copies each and signed by the author. After his 1975 volume, The Papers of the Order of Indian Wars, he still had many original items most of which had never been published. The 1975 work then assembled together for the first time in one place items on the Indian Wars; however, these volumes were mostly unpublished items such as Vol. 1 where Colonel L.A. LaGarden who was a military surgeon describes the horror of an Indian attack in the Big Horn Mountains or Major Britton Davis on the Geronimo Campaign regarding drunkenness of Indians and their beating of the squaws while attempting to keep details from the newspapers, Vol. 2 has much on Red Cloud; the volumes also deal with Chief Joseph, Plenty Coups, the Apache Wars, 1884-85; Wounded Knee and many others. Most of these volumes ended up in military and university libraries. These booklets are bound in original stiff paper wraps of light or dark blue, lettered in black, various pagination with the volumes containing 221 pages in all. A near fine set.
