Gotha, 1900. Original photograph, cabinetcard, albumen print, 16,8 x 11 cm. Alfred (Alfred Ernest Albert; 6 August 1844 - 30 July 1900) reigned as Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1893 to 1900. He was the second son and fourth child of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. He was known as the Duke of Edinburgh from 1866 until he succeeded his paternal uncle Ernest II as the reigning Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in the German Empire. - - - Princess Marie of Edinburgh, more commonly known as Marie of Romania (Marie Alexandra Victoria; 29 October 1875 - 18 July 1938),[note 1] was the last Queen consort of Romania as the wife of King Ferdinand I. - - - Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Edinburgh GCStJ CI VA RRC (25 November 1876 - 2 March 1936) was the third child and second daughter of Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia. She was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and Emperor Alexander II of Russia. - - - Princess Alexandra of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, VA, CI, (Alexandra Louise Olga Victoria; 1 September 1878 - 16 April 1942), was the fourth child and third daughter of Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia. She was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom as well as of Tsar Alexander II of Russia. - - - Princess Beatrice of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Beatrice Leopoldine Victoria; 20 April 1884 - 13 July 1966) was a member of the British Royal Family, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. She later married into the Spanish Royal Family, and was the wife of Alfonso de Orleans y Borbón, Infante of Spain, a first cousin of Alfonso XIII of Spain. She was called "Baby Bee" by her family..
