The Long Good-Bye
Hamish Hamilton 1953 - Internally very nice, clean copy. Relined wrapper, missing pieces from the original wrapper on the rear edges. The true first edition. reduced price from £320. A Philip Marlowe novel that some critics consider inferior to The Big Sleep or Farewell, My Lovely, while others rank it as his best book. Chandler himself, in a letter to a friend, called the novel "my best book" and recalled the agony of writing it while his wife was terminally ill. This book won the Edgar Award in 1955.
