London: P & O., 1893. Wraps. Very good condition. Guide book for Royal Mail Steamers of the P & O to India, China, Japan, Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. The pictorial wrappers printed in blue, with kangaroo and emu flanking a harbor view at the front wrapper. Views include Hong Kong, Singapore, Albany WA, Port Philip, and Sydney Harbor from North Head. The text includes information on rates of passage, hints on outfits, baggage, etc. The principal ports en route are described, along with illustrations and notes on Singapore, Hong Kong, King George's Sound (Albany, W.A.), Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Egypt (by Stanley Lane-Poole), India (by Sir Edwin Arnold), Japan (by Henry W. Lucy). In the center is a fold out diagram of the P & O fleet, past and present, showing the types of vessels depicted as black silhouettes employed in the India, China & Australian mail service from 1837 to 1893. Pictorial paper wrappers printed in blue, double page folding map of the world showing routes of the P & O printed in red. 8vo, 88pp & table of distances [1]pp. Front wrapper slightly dusty, short cracks base of spine, otherwise very good condition.
