[ARCHITECTURE] [BAUHAUS] [ART AND DESIGN] Tower East [Promotional materials for Tower East, one of Walter Gropius's final architectural projects, built in Shaker Heights, Ohio, in 1967]
(Cleveland): (Ostendorf-Morris Company), (1967). Comb binding. Near fine. Oblong quarto, unpaginated [8pp.]. A near fine copy in a comb binding with transparent printed covers (as issued), in the original manila folder with a printed illustration of the symbol for the structure. A touch of curling to the transparent covers, and the mildest possible creasing to one leaf, else a lovely example. Folder has a few creases and gentle corner wear. Includes a printed timeline of Gropius's career tucked into a pocket in the rear, and a clipped-in card reading "Ready for occupancy June 1967," both almost certainly as issued. A magnificent ephemeral document relating to one of Gropius's last major projects. The celebrated architect and designer did not rest on his laurels, though he was nearing eighty years old at the time this building was erected. We located just two copies in worldwide library holdings, at the Western Reserve Historical Society here in Cleveland and Harvard University's Loeb library.
