Amstelaedami, Apud Janssonio - Waesbergois. 1724 - pp: [xiv], 1-279; [280-283], 284-690, [28]; frontis portrait engraving; text illustration. Separate title page dated 1724 for: "Historiarum & observationum apoplecticarum & similium, potissimum anatomae subjectarum auctarium" Head and tail pieces, and ornate initial letter. Errors in pagination: p.96-97 omitted. This copy was once held at the library of the Birmingham Medical Institute, and has their library binding [probably late 19th or early 20th century], with book-binder's label (Cooper's & Son, Birmingham) to front paste-down. This volume is bound as a 16mo (156mm X 102mm) hardcover in dark-red cloth, with gilt lettering on a red spine label - spine also has 'Birmingham Medical Institute' in gilt lettering, and edges are speckled in red. Institutional rubber stamp (very feint) to title-page - no other institutional markings found elsewhere. Text block trimmed to within 10-15mm away from text, with the upper margin trimmed to approx. 6mm from headings and page numbers. Binding is sturdy, spine ends and corners are neat with only light rubs to corner tips; clear spine lettering. Text-block is tight, and leaves are clean and crisp - only significant flaws are: light water-contact stains to lower portions of two groups of three and four leaves of text; and two other leaves of text having a small (a 5mm and 10mm) hole in the text. A nicely preserved copy. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
