With errata on pages 680 & 681. Index. All edges sprinkled in red. Fully bound in old vellum with manuscript title, sewn head and tail bands. Old manuscript ownership inscription at head of title-page. A very good copy of a seventeenth century edition of this work on Roman warfare. The original text dates from the 5th, or possibly the 4th, century as Vegetius states that the work covers the time 'usque ad tempus divi Gratiani'. The work was used as a military guide during the Middle Ages and went on being used in policy and strategy as late as the nineteenth century. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
