Original pale yellow wrappers. Fine copy in the original glassine jacket. First Edition, one of 165 copies printed, this copy on Strathmore Permanent all-rag paper and unnumbered, signed by the author on the colophon. 8vo. One of 165 Copies - Inscribed by Author and Publisher. Limited signed first edition, additionally inscribed on the front free endpaper: "for Arthur Richmond/ to this company the birds themselves/ and the sleek beasts belong./ William Carlos Williams." Also inscribed on the following leaf by publisher J. Ronald Lane Latimer: "Richmond-/Scotch or Bourbon?/Latimer/Note to posterity: Richmond, that bookseller., refused to go on a binge/ with the publisher Latimer who was/dying of thirst & neurosis-" One of Williams's great collections, containing several of his most famous poems (e.g., 'The Yachts', 'Catholic Bells', 'Flowers by the Sea'); and among the scarcest of his first editions. Williams' inscription to Richmond is a quote from his poem "Hymn to Love Ended," which appears in this collection.
