London: Longmans Green & Co., 1910-1915 - Twenty-four volumes (but see Note below), first editions thus (except for Vol. VIII, "Journals of Travel in Iceland," & Vol. XXIV, "Scenes from the Fall of Troy," which are first printings), 23 x 15.5cm (tall 8vos), uniformly bound in publisher's holland-backed boards w/paper title-labels to spines, a.e. untrimmed, each vol. w/frontis & several full-page plates (many photographed by Emery Walker & some w/tissue-guards) & most w/tipped-in replacement spine labels. Stated Limited Edition of 1050 copies (of which 1000 were for sale; this set is #253) printed on "Antique Wove" paper at the Arden Press, Letchworth. Note: Volume XIX, which contains "The Well at the World's End" Vol. II, is lacking & has been replaced by a copy of the 1910 Longmans edition bound in similar format. Bindings Good (extremities moderately worn, a few w/moderate soiling to covers, hinges cracked, & a few spine labels chipped w/sl. loss); contents Near-Fine--all in all quite a nice set even w/the bindings' flaws & the replacement vol.
