Paris - Mercure de France 1921 - Two volumes of Marcel Schwob's works. In the original French. In ornately gilt stamped half morocco bindings. With binder's stamp of L Peeters to recto of front endpapers. Limited edition, with volume I numbered 231 of 550 printed on papier verge. Volume II is numbered 433. Marcel Schwob was a Jewish French symbolist writer. He was best known for his short stories and his literary influence on subsequent authors. He was a great influence to Jorge Luis Borges and Roberto Bolano. He wrote across many literary genres, with articles, essays, literary reviews and plays. Condition: In half morocco bindings with gilt stamping to the spines. Externally, smart with some rubbing to the joints, particularly to the rear joint of volume II. Crack to the rear joint of volume II also, with the backstrip lifting slightly. Minor rubbing to the head of both volumes also. Binder's stamp to recto of front endpaper, L Peeters Boekb Antw. Rear jointto volume II is starting butfirm with the hingeslightly strained but firm. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with scattered spots throughout.
