Handbook of Practical Cookery.
Thomas Nelson, London 1900 - New and enlarged edition, in which special prominence is given to the preparing of New Cakes, Jellies, etc; to very simple recipes for Cottage Cookery. With an introduction on the Philosophy of Cookery. 14 pages of engravings of dishes and joints. Pp. xlii, 289. 8vo., a good, bright copy in original black decorated red cloth, spine very mildly bumped at head and tail, very light browning to endpapers, tiny contemporary ownership inscription and booksellers label. Matilda Dods was an alumi of the South Kensington School of Cookery. The book first appeared in 1881 ander the title of "A Handbook of Cookery" - only one copy is recorded and is held at the Bodleian Library. Apparently a very scarce edition, as they all are apart from, it seems, the 1906 miniature edition. Only one copy of 1900 edition on World Cat in the BL and none at all in commerce. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
