Whittaker & Co. 1839. - 4to. (9.5 x 7.5 ins.) Purple cloth covered hardback with gilt lettering to front and blind embossed edging/decoration to boards. In very good condition. Rubbing to corners and ends of spine. Edges of cloth/ spine faded. Sml mark bottom of front board. Original bookseller labels to front endpaper. One or two very small spots to pages else a very clean and tight copy. Scarce. 12 litho. plates. 112pp. It refers to the opening of a Barrow at Shapwick, Dorset, April, 1838. "The dialogue, in a most witty and Shaksperian manner, developes the difference between a Roman and a British Barrow and describes the excavations of Antiquaries at the Sepulchres of the early Britons".
