MacMillan and Co, London 1872 - First edition, first issue of this classic work with misprint wade instead of wabe on page 21,later isuues were changed to wabe. original boards present with original spine professionaly rebacked onto boards,the boards have a few marks. The book also has original bluish grey endpapers.Rear of endpapers are foxed with a few small ink marks to bottom of front endpaper, 224 pages in overall clean condition just the very occasional small foxing spot, very few, a few pages have light 45 degree creases to corners, not a hard crease more a bend caused probaly by turning pages when read, all outer edges of pages are gilt, a little worn in places but still retaining a brightness. Many B/w llustrations,all present as called for. NO dustwrapper. Gold emblems front and rear , front is clear and bright, rear is a little worn. corners of boards are a little worn with top rear having a very small loss, gold lettering of spine is a little dulled and ther is a small loss to original spine laid on but no loss to lettering.
