American southwest Texas U.S. 1834 old antique color map
1834 - Carte Generale du Mexique Et des Provinces-unis de l'Amerique Centrale, Ou Guatemala.(Mexico / Central America / Texas / etc.) Issued Paris, 1834 by Vivien. Scarce early 19th century antique map relating to the southwestern United States at the edge of acquisition from Mexico. With original outline hand color. Texas is named and shown in outline light yellow, just historical moments prior to forming an independent Republic. All of California still owned by Mexico, fictitious river Timpanagos shown connecting the Great Salt Lake with Pacific Ocean. Below this is another erroneous/ fictitious river "Buenaventua" connecting a mythical large lake to the Pacific as well. In near VG or better condition, minor light surface age wear and toning as typical, some faint minor foxing in the blank margins, overall the image is clean, well preserved and very attractive.
