Harper & Brothers., New York: 1895 - Tipped onto a front blank end paper is a two page letter that appears to be from Du Maurier and signed by him. It is addressed to "Dawkins" and is dated Jan. 24, '93. It deals with some lectures Du Maurier was to give. We have compared the writing with items signed by him, and this appears to be the same. It is very distinctive and not easy to read. Also, the printed address on the first sheet is "Hempstead Heath" which was DuMaurier address. Light shelf-wear and corners bumped and edges worn. Slight rubbing at head and foot of spine. Except as noted, there are no defects or any evidence of prior ownership. Contents are clean and no foxing. Overall, a very attractive book that is Very Good. Frontispiece portrait of the author and illustrated with text drawings, most with tissue guards, by the author. 464 pages. Bound in full mottled-brown leather with gilt embellishments on the boards and elaborate ones on the spine. Dentelle edges on the boards and in the interior end papers. Title gilt-stamped on the spine. Deckeled fore edge and bottom edge and gilt on top pages edges. First American Edition and Limited to 600 numbered copies of which this is 199. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
