Founded in London, 1821. Minutes of Proceedings, 1899-1920. Roll of Members and Questions Discussed, 1821-1920, with Documents bearing on the History of the Club. Volume VI.
London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1921 - Octavo. Contemporary red cloth, gilt lettered spine, lettered in gilt on front cover "Centenary Volume". Offset from frontispiece tissue guard onto title page. A very good copy. Portrait frontispiece of David Ricardo. First edition, first impression, of the centenary volume commemorating the foundation of the Political Economy Club in 1821. "The significance of the club was that it was truly a debating forum, and, as such, it provided a vital hub for a scientific community" (O'Brien, The Classical Economists Revisited, 2004, p. 13). An attractive association copy, from the library of Professor A. M. Andreades, author of History of the Bank of England 1640-1903 (1909) and A History of Greek Public Finance (1933), with his invitation to the centenary dinner, menu and typed seating plan pasted to prelims; the seating plan is interesting as including Keynes, Beveridge and Pigou. [Attributes: First Edition]
