1947 World Series. Dodgers, Yankees, Official Program.
New York: Harry M. Stevens, 1947. Program, 4to, pictorial covers, illustrated, 48 pp. Slight aging, a few small folds in bottom corner, very slight wear to spine; covers bright, clean, and firm, a very nice copy. The 1947 series was an exciting exchange between the Yankees and the Dodgers, and it took the Yanks the full seven games to put the Dodgers away. However, the 1947 series was the first to be televised, and the first to feature Jackie Robinson, the first black player to play in the majors. This program also features some of the best players ever, including Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Gil Hodgers, and Pee Wee Reese. baseball-almanac website.
