'Famous English Cricketers, 1880'. A chromolithograph (image size 244 x 377 mm, with the title and players' names printed below, along with its imprint details). It appeared as the folding frontispiece to the 1880 volume of The Boy's Own Annual, and was printed by Willatt & Grover, Nottingham. Minimal foxing and a trifling surface blemish to the background sky; in excellent condition. This is a superb display image, recently archivally mounted ready for framing. Front and centre of the group of twenty-one are W.G. Grace and his youngest brother, 'the late G.F. Grace'. George Frederick ('Fred') Grace (1850 - 22 September 1880) died of pneumonia two weeks after playing in the Test match at The Oval, 6-8 September (won by England by five wickets). Although G.F. was out for a duck in both innings, he held two catches; W.G. scored England's first Test century (152 in the first innings), and their brother E.M. scored 36 and 0, and held one catch (not surprisingly, this was th
