The Violins of Saint-Jacques
John Murray / Derek Verschoyle 1953 - First edition, first impression of PLF’s only novel. Very Good: firmly bound in clean, green cloth boards; sunned and softened to spine tips, lightly sunned to board edges and bumped to top front corner; tanned page edges; signature and date to half-title but otherwise internally crisp and clean; attractive, green, ‘illustrated map’ endpapers. The unclipped (9s.6d. net stated - price faintly crossed through and new one entered in coloured pencil besides), first-state dustwrapper is Good minus: loss to the head of the spine and smaller chips to the heel and to the top corners; large triangular chip to the bottom of the front panel; a couple of distinct, now smoothed vertical creases. Colours remain bright and vivid, presenting well in a removable, archival-quality Brodart protective cover. All orders are sent very carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
