Frontis engraving of St Cuthbert's Church, full page engravings of SE Aspect of Darlington Trinity Church, Church of St John, Blackwell Grange, and Hylton Castle, two plates of architectural details of Darlington Collegiate Church, a portrait of George Allan esq., and a plate of signatures along with smaller illus of prominent buildings, family crests and emblems. This is a history and geneology of the parish of Darlington dedicated to Robert Henry Allan, esq. of Blackwell Hall, who was the largest landowner of these parts and who provided information from his archives. The writer of the book is unnamed but left a preface in which everyone is thanked. The book was produced for subscribers only and there is a list of them near the front of the book. Robert Heny Allan contracted for 12 copies of which 6 were on large paper. There is no date to the book, but the most recent date mentioned in the text is 1852.
