Hand-colored map]: "Amerique Septentrionale" [from] Description de l'Univers (1683)
Denys Thierry, [Paris 1683 - One octavo leaf (pages 271-272) removed from Manesson-Mallet's classic five-volume work *Description de l'Univers*. Page 271 with a hand-colored engraved map: "Amerique Septentrionale" depicting North and Central America, including "Nouvelle France," "Virginie," "Floride," and "Nouveau Mexique." The letterpress verso (p. 272) prints the beginning of Chapiter III (Du Canada). Neatly taped (with six small pieces of paper tape) at the edges of page 272 onto a hand-cut paper mat. One tiny spot, else a fine, bright impression of the map.
