A Quaint Treatise on "Flees and the Art of Artyfichall Flee Making"
John B Day, 1876, Hardcover (Original Cloth), Book Condition: Very Good Condition, Signed by Author. An elaborate production in which the major feature is the thick board leaves (like a Victorian photo album) with recessed oval mounts that contain actual flies made up and mounted on the boards. There are twenty-two such ovals. The book also sports two full-page chromolithographic reproductions of watercolours by James Poole. A phtographic portrait of the author is mounted on a preliminary page with his pen signature beneath, the mounting has resulted in a bit of wrinkling to that page. The green boards are elaborately decorated in gilt and black. Some moderate foxing. Size: Quarto. Category: Fishing & Hunting; Signed by Author.
