The Sonnets
The Swallow Press, London 1975 - Folio. Unpaginated with each of the 154 sonnets per page plus illustrations. Paperback review copy of which 26 were produced lettered A - Z, this being lettered Q. Signed to the colophon by Robert Graves (who wrote the preface), Clarke Hutton (illustrator) and Edward Burrett (who designed the book). Brown buckram boards with purple cloth binding and gilt titles to spine. Decorated endpapers. Each sonnet typeset by hand in 24pt Monotype Perpetua (designed by Eric Gill). The 224 pages of text printed on Grosvenor Chater's Glastonbury Antique Laid paper, made at their mills in Holywell, North Wales. There are five 'supporting' tints of the Glastonbury paper on which the Clarke Hutton illustrations have been printed by lithography. Also loosely inserted is the prospectus for this work and a copy of the order form which has a handwritten note on the reverse from Edward Burrett indicating that copy 'Q' was actually his own. Being a review copy, there is no slipcase. A beautifully made book in fine condition. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Soft Cover]
