Talking to the Moon
University of Chicago Press, Chicago 1945 - Inscribed " The Blackjacks, January 6 1946 For Steve with best wishes and with a hope that this first year of peace brings fulfillment of his long nourished dreams. Jo / John Joseph Mathews ". In addition, the author has drawn a hawk hovering over a prairie reminiscent of the Osage land where he built his cabin in Pawhuska, the subject of this book. This scene flows over to the 1st paste-down with a mountain that rises from this prairie. This line separates the signature " Jo " from " John Joseph Mathews ". It is quite rare to see the author sign " Jo " ( we have only seen it twice ) and assume it was to a dear friend. Flap price of 3.00. DJ worn with a few nicks and chips. Last end paper has become unglued at gutter. Review and other data glued to REP and last paste-down. Black magic marker to back board in the form of an X. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
