Contemporary full calf with very attractive blind tooled boards, six spine compartments with red title pieces ,volume no in gilt, others with gilt rosettes and floral motifs. Each volume with the same engraved portrait frontispiece of the author and full title page - half titles in vols 1,3, and 5. Vol 1 has publisher and date 1721 to tile page, other vols have no publisher stated and 1720. Vol 1, Royal Licence dated 1703, preface i-xxv, pages 1-288, Vol 2 pages 289-710, Vol 3 imprimatur, dedication vii, pages 1-466, Vol 4 pages 467-752, Vol 5 imprimatur, dedication 14, pages 1-364, Vol 6 pages 365-773, Index 73pp. Condition, contents excellent, clean and no stains or markings other than owner's name(Cotton Symonds) to half title or verso of frontispiece. Eternally good unrefurbished condition, rubbing/losses to head and tail of all spines, corners slightly bumped and rubbed joints holding but tender especially Vol 6, loss to one compartment of Vol 1, part losses to title pieces 1,3,and 5 and no title piece Vol 6.
