Indianapolis: Bowen-Merrill Co.. Near Fine in Fine dust jacket. 1892. First Edition; First Printing. Paperback. Autograph; Inscribed by the author on ffep: "Very truly / James Whitcomb Riley / Indianapolis Mrch 22 / 1901" and added below in author's handwriting is "For the Song's sake. -- Even so." Clean in original white flexible boards with silver title on front and stylized images of cherubs in extremely nice cream jacket with black lettering at front panel. Near Fine (first blank aftern ednpaper separated at hinge) in Fine dustjacket. Beautifully preserved in customized case -- first enfolded in green cloth portfolio which then slips into full leather pull-off case with raised bands and gilt lettering at spine, box rubbed at extremeties. BAL 16587: First printing, first state binding. Quite scarce signed and well preserved. ; Signed by Author .
