Inaugural publication, 1927, of The Campanile, the yearbook for Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California. The school opened in the fall of 1926. Includes many inscriptions and signatures from students, faculty, and the Principal (John L. Lounsbury) and Vice-Principal (Clarence Woodruff). The yearbook is organized by "Order of Books." Book One: Alma Mater (pictures of the new school are tipped in), Book Two: Literary (poems, prose, and a play by students), Book Three: Classes (pictures for seniors only), Book Four: Organizations, Book Five: Academic Competition, Book Six: Stage Arts, Book Seven: Athletics - team name was Golden Bears or just Bears (boys: football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, tennis, and golf; Girls: the Outing Club, Tennis Club, golf, basketball, soccer and field hockey), and Book Eight: Cutting Up.
