Original One Sheet for THE LAST FILMS OF GEORGE BERNARD SHAW [a k a BERNARD SHAW'S VILLAGE]
[New York]: Astor Pictures Corp., 1949. Vintage pictorial one sheet (27 x 41"; 68 x 102 cm). Lithographed in sanguine on white. Folded, as issued, small smudge in one margin, minute breaks at apexes of a couple folds, but very good or better. A one sheet promoting the U.S. distribution of BERNARD SHAW'S VILLAGE, a short documentary by J. Frieze about Ayot St. Lawrence featuring Shaw, then in his 90s, visiting his neighbours and friends, walking about the village, and entertaining Danny Kaye at his home. Given the very limited theatrical distribution of films of this nature, publicity paper for it is uncommon. The film itself is available for viewing online via the East Anglian Film Archive and the image on this poster shows a clip during which Shaw and Kaye discuss photography.
