Gift inscription on Volume front flyeaf from Stuyvesant LeRoy to Amos Tuck French (his bookplate), dated 1894. Rubbing wear, some chipping to head of spines. Foxing, scattered pencil marginalia. Translated by Antoine Sabatier de Castres.
Giovanni Boccaccio was an Italian author, poet and correspondent of Petrach. Boccaccio wrote a number of notable works including the Decameron and On Famous Women. As a poet who wrote in the Italian vernacular, Boccaccio is particularly noted for his realistic dialogue, which differed from his contemporaries. ESTC N28450
