Hitherto Unpublished Plates of Tertiary Mammalia and Permian Vertebrata.

Text block has been handsomely rebound in dark blue buckram with gold-stamped titles on spine. Text is clean, tight and unmarked., Previous owner's name on front endpapers. Boards are clean and undamaged, lightly bumped at corners. "These plates were prepared and printed by the United States Government for the Report on Tertiary Vertebrata by Edward Drinker Cope, forming Volumes III and IV of the final report of the Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories. The first part of the report (Volume III) treating of the Eocene and part of the Oligocene vertebrates was completed and published in 1885. The second part, treating of the remainder of the Oligocene and the Miocene vertebrates was never completed. "A large number, but not all, of the plates for this part were prepared and printed, together with seven plates for a contemplated report on Permian Vertebrata." From the Prefatory Notes. Hardcover.
