Spine with 5 raised bands and original plum leather title label: "Harris's Collection Of Voyages & Travels". Marbled endpapers. Modern free-endpaper (handmade paper). Clean text and illustrations throughout, just the odd small mark or blemish. Illustrated with a couple of line drawings within the text, together with 11 pages of engravings (one folding): "Capt. Knox & Ribero's History of Ceilon"; "The Plane Of The City Of Pekimy Metropolis Of China" ; "Throne of the Emperour of China."; "Dr. Edw. Brown's Travels thro' Divers parts of Europe."; "Dr. Brown's Travells."; "Rutten out of the Danube"; "The Inside of the Amphitheater at Verona." (folding); "The outside of the Amphitheater at Nismes"; "Pont du Gard near Remolin within four Leagues of Nismes in Languedoc."; "Misson's Voyage to Italy"; "St Peter's Church". Lacks the Frontis, and no maps present. Printers errors in pagination but text has been collated complete, a few minor tears in the text expertly repaired. Some staining and spotting throughout but overall a very clean copy. Fascinating accounts of many of the most important voyages made in the early years of exploration. With the heads of several of our most considerable sea-commanders; and a great number of excellent maps of all parts of the world, and cuts of most curious things in all the voyages. Also, an appendix, of the remarkable accidents at sea; and several of our considerable engagements: the charters, acts of Parliament, &c. about the East-India trade; and papers relating to the union of the two companies.
