Original artwork for a page of "Orlando the Marmalade Cat Goes to the Moon"
one page, 25 x 21 cms n.d.[1968], crayon and pencil on paper - Two illustrations for page four of Hale's topical children's book about space travel. The first showing Orlando and Grace dressing their kittens for the journey with goldfish bowls for helmets and the second showing one of their "space suits" being inflated with fire-side bellows. With the caption in Hales's holograph at head: "Master kindly pumped up the Space Suits with the bellows" and her cautionary note-to-self(?): "Bowl too small an opening to fit over B and P's heads," and her further printing marks and notes to margins. Hale has written her name and return address to verso with the request that it be returned "in as good condition as possible". Light soiling and offsetting but in excellent condition.
