Publisher's red cloth with gilt titles and decoration to spine and front, with a stylised hound in black to front. Internally clean with just a little toning to the page edges. No inscriptions or bookplates. Cloth is rather clean with one or two minor age-related marks, spine a little sunned to spine. An attractive copy of the classic detective novel. Scarce in such condition. 'Holmes is at his very best, and it is a highly dramatic idea.' - Doyle, to his mother, 2 April 1902.
