London: W. Collins & Sons, 1922. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Very Good. London: W. Collins & Sons, 1922 Hard bound in original green cloth blocked and titled in gold. P. 215 plus 2 leaves of publishers ads. Emil Otto Hoppe was an intriguing Edwardian photographer. His portraiture is high art and herein is presented as photogravure portraits. Seven chapters present seven original characters with haunting tissue protected Hobbe portraits leading. The wide-eyed drug addict musician Franz is featured on the rare and lovely unclipped dustwrapper with original 10/6 price intact. Text is by the pioneer Beresford and shows that his at times horrific world view is in fact taken from life. Other subjects include the courtesan, the tramp and the charwoman. Some light wear to wrapper edges (three closed eighth inch tears but no paper loss). Green cloth likewise bumped at top edge. Uncommon and gripping portraiture. All plates and tissues present; one tissue creased. NO former owner marks. Wrapper now protected in archival-quality protector. Scans on request, questions cheerfully answered and customer satisfaction quaranteed. Find out why 75 % of our business is from repeat customers. Extra shipping and insurance at cost to many destinations. s. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Near Very Good.
