NY: Random House, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. CHOREOGRAPHER AGNES DE MILLE'S COPY INSCRIBED TO HER BY RICHARD RODGERS. The contributions of Richard Rodgers (most famously as composer with lyricists Lorenz Hart and later with Oscar Hammerstein) to musical theater are historic in themselves, as is Agnes de Mille's choreography to dance, but their collaboration in Oklahoma for which de mille choreographed the groundbreaking dream sequence is regarded by most as one of the landmark achievements in the performing arts of the 20th century. A rambling sort of memoir, with many anecdotes, including some about the inscribee herself. Inscribed simply "For Agnes with love from Dick" in ink on the ffe. A near fine copy in near fine dustjacket with a 1961 personal note to deMille from an unidentified friend addressed to her Monticello, NY residence laid-in.
