This is a lovely untouched binding of contemporary tree calf; red morocco labels and burgundy volume number lozenges; simple gilt rules to spine; edges of boards gilt; all edges speckled; original pale blue washed endpapers. There is a little rubbing and slight scuffing but still a remarkably well-preserved binding. iv, (2), 387;( Books Lately Published, Translated By Mr Heron, verso of last leaf). iv, 513pp. (Advertisement verso of final leaf). Both front paste-downs bear the fine bookplate of Parker of Browsholme. Robert Heron (1764-1807) is perhaps more celebrated as the translator of Carsten Niebuhr's " Travels In Arabia.
