University of London Press Ltd 1946 - " The Little White Horse " by Elizabeth Goudge, Published 1946 by University of London Press - First Edition, with dust jacket. Pp 286, full page illustrated colour frontispiece together with another 3 full page illustrated colour plates. Illustrated by Walter C Hodges. Black and white vignette illustrated chapter headings together with several full page black and white illustrations throughout.Externally, the blue cloth boards are in exceptionally good condition bright and blemish free. Front Board decorated with a bright and glistening gilt unicorn motif, gilt lettering to spine with title , author and publisher. Dust jacket in exceptionally good order, unclipped, untorn, bright to the front, with a small amount of marking to the back cover, very top top of the spine slightly wrinkled. ( see images). Internally , despite being printed on rationed war-era paper, the pages are clean and bright throughout. The fore edge has the slightest of foxing ( see image ) ( barely percetible when closed and unobtrusive when opened )top edge coloured and uniform with the slightest unobtrusive hint of foxing.Binding is tight. Illustrated pasted down endpapers front and back of " Moonacre". Overall an exceptionally good copy of an utterly charming book, winner of the Carnegie Prize 1946 and favourite childhood book of J K Rowling.
