Edge of Doom (Original Film Pressbook)
Samuel Goldwyn Company / RKO Radio Pictures, Los Angeles 1950 - Original pressbook for the 1950 film noir. Based on the 1949 novel by Leo Brady. Written for the screen by Philip Yordan and Ben Hecht. An RKO release that flopped at its premiere, so much that the producers at Goldwyn had Ben Hecht write framing scenes to be added to the wide release. Essential noir, with Catholic overtones and optimism, about an impoverished family and the depths to which a frustrated young man (Farley Granger) can sink, culminating in murder (Silver, et al.).12 pages, with one insert (folded once), 12 x 18 inches, saddle stitched. Very Good plus, with a faint horizontal fold crease at the center of the wrapper and pages, a few short closed tears at the edges, light soil, and a tiny chip at one corner of the insert.Neibaur 252. Selby (1984) 122. Silver, p. 104. Spicer, p. 409.
