ORIGINAL SEPIA MOVIE PROGRAM for "Der Blaue Engel" (The Blue Angel)
1930 - Single 4to. leaf, folded to make four pages. The front panel is dominated by a photographic tableau of Jannings and his femme fatale, enacted by Marlene Dietrich in her breakthrough performance as Lola-Lola, the wanton destroyer of men. The program cover shows Dietrich perched on a barrel, gartered legs disturbingly crossed and wearing a jauntily-angled top hat. Joseph Von Sternberg, the film's director and Dietrich's Svengali, made an English-version of "The Blue Angel" that was released in the following year.[along with]Jannings, Emil. INSCRIBED VINTAGE POSTCARD PHOTOGRAPH of the great German actor, nattily attired in a tweed coat and checked bowtie, his hat turned up at the brim, looking nothing like the bedraggled professor in the celebrated film.
