S. Adler, Haifa 1935 - Quarto. Unpaginated. [21] leaves. Original half black cloth over paper covered boards with Hebrew lettered silver inlay on front cover. In this striking work, Polish-born Jewish photographer Yaakov Benor-Kalter, documents the Jewish settlement of Palestine during the 1920s and 1930s. This book features 20 mounted reproductions in heliogravure depicting landscapes of the 'New Palestine' and Jewish workers in construction, industry and agriculture, in a style that is greatly influenced by Soviet photography. Photographs in various sizes, measuring 3 1/2" x 5" to 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". Slight age-toning/foxing along edges of covers. Tail of spine slightly rubbed. Minor abrasion along fore-edge of cloth spine. Title and captions in Hebrew and English. Binding in overall good+, interior in very good condition. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
