Issued by Max Spohr in the same year that he also published Hirschfeld's Sappho und Sokrates, it became one of the foundational books of the gay right's movement in Germany. The Viennese sexologist published several works on the subject pseudonymously, all of which are quite scarce, having largely been destroyed during the Nazi regime. He had a particular interest in the artistic sensibility of gay writers and musicians and wrote extensively on the subject.A good copy, binding is worn at edges and spine, paper label on spine, tape reinforcement to front hinge, bookplate on endpaper.
