Leaf from the Carondelet Breviary
ca. 1458, Paris or Dôle - 188 x 144mm. Very good. Vellum, 2 columns, 29 lines, 129 x 91 mm, with 4 illuminated foliate initials to one side and 2 to the reverse side. The Carondelet Breviary was written by Jean d Aussert for Etienne Caondelet, canon of Notre Dame, Dôle. The manuscript was sold at Sothmann, Amsterdam, 28 February 1985 and broken up. See Sothebys London 8 December 2015, lot 5 (e). Under a slightly dirty passepartout which should be replaced.
