Longman, at the Ship in Pater-Noster-Row 1720 - FIRST EDITION, two parts in one, each with its own pagination, with general title-page to first part and separate title for the second part. Complete with seven engraved plates contained within part one. Pp.xii; viii; 125; [1], blank; [1], title; [1], blank, 303; [1], advertisement. Original calf-tipped marbled boards, respined to style. Generally clean inside, with occasional marking and marginal loss to pp.37 (pt.I), pp.13 (pt.II). Boards rubbed and dusty, some edgewear, spine and joints fine. A seemingly popular book on farriery, with a greatly improved tenth edition appearing by 1754. All the early printings are evidently now scarce, with just nine copies appearing at auction since 1931, of which NONE were the FIRST EDITION. Only three copies of this 1720 first printing are noted on Copac (at the BL, Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities). RARE. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
